Martin Williams

Martin has over 29 years experience in the Financial Services industry, 17 of which as an independent Financial Consultant. He studied History at the University of Southampton and joined Friends Provident in 1996. In addition Martin has also enjoyed working with Savills Private Finance in London.

He started his own business as an Independent Financial Consultant in 2004 and decided to specialise in the mortgage and protection market in 2013.

Martin has obtained his Financial Planning Certificates I, II and III, as well as passing his Mortgage Advice Qualification.

Claire Williams

Claire has worked with Candleston Financial Services since 2004 and completes all of the administration within our business.

Candleston Financial Services started in July 2004 and is a family run business offering a first class independent Mortgage and Protection advisory service.

We are based in a small seaside village called Ogmore by Sea in the Vale of Glamorgan.

The name Candleston originated from a nearby 14th century Fortified Manor House which is seen above, namely Candleston Castle.

Mortgage and life insurance advice

Candleston have advised me on re-mortgaging my home and rental property on a number of occasions in recent years and have always provided me with a highly professional service which has been tailored to my personal needs and circumstances. They have repeatedly found the most appropriate and cost effective solutions to my mortgage and life insurance needs and guided me through the process with calm competence and understanding.

As first time buyers, we really appreciated the amount of time, advice and care we received at Candleston regarding the entire mortgage process. Not only did they provide a high level of detail on all options available to us, but they also really went the extra mile with their excellent customer service. Nothing was too much trouble, even taking the time to speak to us out of hours/on weekends. Moreover, they answered any questions we had patiently in understandable language and ensured that we had the full picture for the home buying process i.e. getting us quotes on life cover and instructing surveyors for our home buyers report.

Solid financial advice from a great person

Martin is great to have as our financial advisor. Of course he is helpful and experienced and has all the skills we need. But more than that he is understanding and genuinely cares about us as a family, and not just about our finances.

We were recommended to Candleston Financial by a family member, and also family friend. We were first time buyers looking for a mortgage. Martin explained everything in simple terms and took us through all our options, to get the right product for us. He worked around our busy work schedules and helped us fill in forms in the evenings and weekends when it was convenient for us. When we felt the solicitors were being slow or despondent, we contacted Martin who chased them up and got us answers promptly. I have no hesitation in recommending them, and will be going back when our mortgage is up for renewal.
